A chiller is acomponent that is used to cool water. If the water is cooled to below 0 C,then a water/glycol mixture is often used to prevent the water from freezing.The cooled water is pumped from the chiller to a water/air or water/water heatexchanger, where it can be used to cool air or water respectively.

When the water haspassed through the heat exchanger, it returns to the chiller to be cooledagain. Chillers are often used for cooling and dehumidifying of air inbuildings. Water is non-toxic and therefore well suited to be circulated tovarious heat exchangers in the building.
